(1)the hierarchical organization of life,
(2) homology (= homology-‘homogeny’ sensu Lankester 1870 relations; cf. Fitzhugh 2006a, b, c, 2008b),
(3) embryological similarities,
(4) vestigial characters,
(5) convergence (= ‘homoplasy’ sensu Lankester 1870; cf. Fitzhugh 2006a, b, c,
2008b),
(6) suboptimal design,
(7) geographic distributions, and
(8 ) intermediate forms.
